Obituary for Roy L. Lindberg Mr. Roy L. Lindberg, age 93, of Grand Haven passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at Grand Pines Assisted Living. He was born July 30, 1925 in Ferrysburg to Roy E. and Minnie (Schaidt) Lindberg and moved to Grand Haven shortly after. Roy graduated from Grand Haven High School in January of 1944 and enrolled in the U.S. Navy where he served during WWII in the Atlantic and Pacific on a destroyer escort Navy ship.
He had attained 2nd Class Petty Officer and was honorably discharged in 1946. After the war, he worked as a carpenter with his dad. On September 7, 1951 he married June Rhode in Grand Haven.
He later took an apprentice course in pattern making which led to a 43-year career making patterns for the automotive industry. He initially worked 3 ½ years at Campbell, Wyant and Cannon. He worked 38 ½ years at Anderson Pattern and retired in 1989.
Roy was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, he was an elder, deacon, Stephens Minister, worked on funeral luncheons, Sunday school teacher, and head usher. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post 28. Roy is survived by his wife of 67 years, June a. Lindberg; three children: Sharon King of Grand Rapids, David (Diane) Lindberg of Ferrysburg, and Paul Lindberg of California; four granddaughters, Jennifer, Angela, Stephanie, and Katie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Lois Lewis. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, 508 Franklin Ave. , Grand Haven.
Visitation will be held 12-1 PM Wednesday at the church. Interment will take place in Lake Forest Cemetery with Military Honors offered by the Navy National Guard and the American Legion Post 28. Memorial contributions in memory of Roy may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa County or the American Legion Post 28.
