Obituary for Roy Lee Griffey On Wednesday, December 19, 2018 Roy Lee Griffey, loving husband and father of two children, passed away peacefully at his home at age 79. Roy was born in Chattanooga, TN on July 5, 1939. He was the son of Charles R. and Nellie (Freeman) Griffey.

Roy is survived by his wife of 56 years Earlene Griffey of Highland Village, TX, two children Dr. Stephen Griffey of Winters, CA and Susan Johnson of Flower Mound, TX. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Rebecca Griffey and granddaughter Alexandra Griffey of Winters, CA, son-in-law Christopher Johnson and granddaughter McKenna Johnson of Flower Mound, TX. Griffey is also survived by relatives, niece Terry Griffey of Baton Rouge, LA and nephew Jonathan Henson of Chattanooga, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Junior (Charles) Griffey and Bud Griffey. Roy retired from Faultless Starch/Bon Ami Co. in 2001 after a 40 year career with the company he so loved. He served in both the United States Naval Reserves and the United States Air Force.

Roy was a huge Dallas Cowboys and Texas A&M fan. He had a passion for westerns especially anything with John Wayne. He also loved music and his three favorite artists were Elvis, Roy Orbison and Jackie Wilson.

He also loved art! Roy painted and sketched to his hearts content in his younger years. He had a very big heart and always wanted to help those who were less fortunate.

He always loved being with his friends and talking about the good old times. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Roy’s services will be held at Flower Mound Family Funeral Home.
