Ruby Royer October 03, 1926 – November 21, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Ruby Royer, 92, of Iowa Falls, died on November 21 at Northridge Village in Ames. A memorial service will be held at Cedar Ridge in Iowa Falls on Thursday, January 17th at 10:30 a.m. Memorials can be directed to the First United Methodist Church or Cedar Ridge Independent Living in Iowa Falls. The Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls is assisting the family.

Ruby was born on October 3, 1926 to Ray and Elizabeth Allen in Pierson, Iowa. She graduated in 1944 from Grand Meadow School in Washta, Iowa where she was valedictorian of her class. After graduation, she attended National Business Training School in Sioux City, Iowa, and she subsequently worked for a finance company and an oral surgeon in Sioux City.

She also worked for many years in the cafeteria at Iowa Falls High School in Iowa Falls. Ruby was united in marriage on January 27, 1950 to Clair Royer at the Pierson Methodist Church in Pierson, Iowa. They farmed in the Kingsley and Pierson area for several years before moving to Iowa Falls.

Ruby is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey (RuthAnn) Royer of Ames, Iowa and their children, Chris Royer of Fukuoka, Japan and Caisa Royer of Ithaca, New York; Mark (Martha) Royer of Ames, Iowa and their children, Emily Royer of St. Paul, Minnesota, Meg Royer of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Nicholas Royer of Ames, Iowa; and Danny (Suzanne) Royer of Alexandria, Virginia. Following her husband Clair’s death in 2006, Ruby continued to live in the family home in Iowa Falls until October 2016, when she moved to Cedar Ridge Independent Living in Iowa Falls. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Carmen, and her brother, Rex.

Ruby was always proud of the accomplishments of her three sons, three daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren. During the past two years, she greatly enjoyed the many friendships she developed while living at Cedar Ridge.
