Obituary of Russell Foote Russell F Foote, 54, of Downsville, NY passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 5, 2019 as the result of injuries from an accident on December 4, 2018. He was surrounded by his wife and children. Russell was born on December 16, 1964 to Franklin and Donna (McAdams) Foote, who predeceased him.

He was the baby of the family with brother, Sherman and sister, Dianne. He attended Downsville Central School where he graduated in 1983 and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in Business from SUNY Delhi. Russell worked for many years with his Father at Foote and Burlingame and later took over the garbage collection business.

On November 29, 2003 he married Amelia Fisk in Downsville at the Colchester Community Church. In 2008, he joined the Town of Colchester Highway Department where he worked until his death. Russell enjoyed many activities, including tinkering on the ’47 Ford given to him by his father, cutting firewood, attending his children’s events, hunting, fishing, taking walks in the woods, caring for and playing with his many animals, and browsing Craigslist for his friends and co-workers.

Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family – taking road trips for parts, camping, attending dance recitals and ball games, and doing projects around the house. Russell was a kind, generous and quiet man who would often times just listen but when he spoke he did so with a knowledge and humor that surprised many people. He volunteered with his signature smile wherever he was needed.

He was a member of the Colchester Community United Methodist Church where as a Trustee he helped out with many of the church repairs, activities, and fundraisers. Russell had recently found a new passion to give back in the Downsville Fire Department; he loved driving the trucks and helping out with the Fireman Field Days. Russell is survived by his wife of 15 years, Amelia, and their children, Dylan and Stephanie, his brother, Sherman Foote, Downsville, sister, Dianne (Ron) Palmatier, Bainbridge, nephew, Sherman Foote, Jr, East Branch, niece and nephews, Donna Jo, Jesse, and Josh, and his Uncle and Aunt, Joe and Grace Tabarrini.

A special thank you to all the kind souls who prayed for and supported the family through the last month. It will forever be remembered and held dear to our hearts. Family and friends are invited to call at the Colchester Community United Methodist Church, 15151 Main Street, Downsville, on Saturday January 12, 2019 from 11am-2pm with a Bell Service and Funeral Service at 2pm.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Colchester Community United Methodist Church or the Downsville Fire & EMS, who not only welcomed him as family from day one, but also brought him home to spend his final days.
