Prior to retirement, Ruth worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Funeral home in Franklin Lakes, NJ.

Ruth is preceded in death by her loving husband Richard and son Kenneth Hemkes. She is survived by her children, Douglas Hemkes, Michael Hemkes and Sandra Hemkes; daughter in law, Eileen Hass; sister, Della Sweetman; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
