Belvedere, SC……. Dorothy Ruth Patterson,93, entered into rest on June 5, 2018 at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, June 8, 2018 in Belvedere First Baptist Church with Rev.

John Meyer and Dr. Roy L. Head officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Gardens. Ruth, as she was known, was born in Brasstown, NC on July 4th, 1924.

At the age of six, she went to live at Oxford Orphanage in Oxford, NC. While she was at Oxford, she was in the singing class and graduated from there. Following graduation, she moved to Atlanta, GA to live with her older sister.

There she started working at the Southeastern Stages Bus Co. where she met her first husband, Charles W. McDaniel. Ruth moved to Belvedere in 1958. She attended Belvedere First Baptist Church for 58 years.

She was a member of the Lucy Pearson Sunday School Class and served on many church committees over the years. Ruth was an avid reader and loved to work crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Evelyn Platt and husbands, Charles W. McDaniel, James C. Tanner and Andrew L. Patterson.

She is survived by her daughters, Dottie (Carl) Latini, Columbus, GA and Carol (Russell) Harrell of Belvedere; sons, Bill (Pat) McDaniel of McCormick, SC and Chuck (Celmira) McDaniel, Chapin, SC; stepdaughters, Sandra (Scott) Hill of FL and Frances Ratliff of Waycross, GA; stepsons, Carroll (Brenda) Tanner of Big Canoe, GA and Andy Patterson of Vidalia, GA; sisters, 100 year old Mattie Cayce of Hayesville, NC and 97 year old Polly Graham of Smyrna, GA; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening, Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Carl Latini, Jr., Paul McDaniel, Shaun McDaniel, Justin Parker, Damien Wall, Jack Posey and Chayce Villenueva.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lucy Pearson Sunday School Class and neighbors on Frances Dr. The family would like to thank Anne Handy, Angela Martin and Trinity Hospice for all their care. In memory of Ruth, the family asks that one wear something purple, her favorite color.
