Sally Norine (Rounds) Rauscher, 80, of Murrysville peacefully passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018 in her home surrounded by family who grieve the now all-too-real absence of her smile and kind spirit for this world. She was born August 2, 1938 in White Plains, New York to the late Clinton and Sarah Rounds. She attended Montclair College in Monmouth, New Jersey.
It was in Monmouth that she met her husband of 59 years, Donald J. Rauscher. She is survived by two daughters Elizabeth Ann and her husband Richard Zangle of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, Susan Lee of Export, Pennsylvania and her four sons, William Andrew and his wife Christine of Evans, Georgia, Clinton Joseph and his wife Leah of Cambridge Sprints, Pennsylvania, James Franklin and his wife Theresa of Pensacola, Florida, and Col. Matthew Donald and his wife Jennifer of Fort Dix, New Jersey.
She greatly loved and was deeply proud of her “exceptional” 18 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Clinton Rounds and his wife Faye of Littleton, Colorado and Peter Rounds and his wife Lucy of Red Bank, New Jersey and sister-in-law Ann Eagan of Syracuse, New York and brother –in-law William Rauscher and his wife Carol of Vermont. Sally embodied the word service through her dedication to her volunteer work.
She was a passionate volunteer for respect life organization including Pennsylvanians for Human Life, Southwest Region – volunteering for pro-life efforts for almost 50 years including serving as a Director for National Right to Life. She also volunteered with the Blackburn Center answering their hotline for victims of domestic violence. She spent 10 years volunteering for the Mother Teresa Outreach Program at Mother of Sorrows Parish.
She also volunteered helping pregnant moms for 45 years in the Rosebud program and assisting the Knights of Columbus with the Baptismal Rose program. Sally was a woman of true faith living out the Gospel call of welcoming, loving and serving. She valued family more than anything and with Don built a family unit that is strong and loving.
She could often be found “gallivanting” with friends, taking in all the beauty of the ocean – especially loving waves that “thump”, traveling to visit family or looking for the perfect bargain at a garage sale. Family and friends will be received Friday, November 2, 2018 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at the Mother of Sorrows church, Murrysville with a funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be held in Murrysville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh at www. ccpgh.org. in Sally’s name www.
