OBITUARY Sam Brunk, Jr. July 19, 1916 – November 17, 2018 Sam Brunk, Jr., 102, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Calvin Community in Des Moines. A visitation with the family will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Sam was born July 19, 1916 in Bloomfield, Iowa.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a retired truck driver from Caldwell & Hartung and was a teamster, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Sam enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working outside in his yard, and collecting “little treasures”.

Sam is survived by his son, Gary (Patty) Brunk, Sr. of West Des Moines; daughter, Judy (Brenda Beardsley) Brunk of West Des Moines; grandsons, Matt Brunk and Gary (Carrie) Brunk, Jr., both of Des Moines and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Laura (Hall) Brunk, Sr.,his wife, Mugs, and granddaughter-in-law, Terri Brunk. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
