OBITUARY Sammy Charles Orlando Sr. October 22, 1949 – September 13, 2018 Sammy Charles Orlando, Sr. passed away on Thursday, the 13th of September 2018, after a lengthy illness at the age of 68 yrs. surrounded by his family. Sammy was born in Houston, Texas on the 22nd of October 1949, to Sam & Antoinette Tirreta Orlando.
If Sammy was your friend, you had a friend for life. He had a great love for his family, friends, good food, his German Shepherds, New Orleans, HLSR committees, loved his buffets and his ’85 Blazer. His children and grandchildren brought such joy to him and completed his life.
Sammy was a member of the following organizations: Member of Sacred Heart Society, Alief Houston Metro & Horsepitality Houston Rodeo Committees, former Fort Bend Reserve Deputy Constable Precinct 3. Survived by his wife, Rosemary Colonnetta Orlando of 43 years; children: Daughter, MaryAnn Orlando Szilagyi and husband, Drew; Son, Sammy Orlando, Jr & longtime girlfriend, Elisha Lopez; grandchildren: Luke Szilagyi and MaryGrace Szilagyi; Brother & Sister-in-law: Eddie & Bernadine Orlando; Brother-in-law: Victor Colonnetta; Aunt: Eula Orlando DuBroff; nieces, nephews & great-nephews and numerous cousins; special friend, Willie Hines (brother from another Mother). Special thanks to his care givers, Raquel and Quition and staff with Compassionate Care.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Willie Heins, Nicky Orlando, Eddie Orlando, Jr., Scott McDonald, Louis Falzone, Anthony Pizzitola, Ron Ridgeway, Steve Mackinaw, Sammy Orlando, Jr Drew Szilagyi, Jon Sharver, Sal Gambino, Joseph Loverdi, Sr., Dr. Joseph Edward Orlando and Ronnie Caldarera. Those serving as honorary pallbearers will be Members of Sacred Heart Society and Members of the HLSR Horsepitality Committee.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four o’clock this afternoon until seven o’clock this evening Sunday, the 16th of September, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will commence at six o’clock in the evening.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at one o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 17th of September, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Road in Houston, where the Rev. Al Sinasac, C.S.B., Pastor, will serve as celebrant. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests in honor of Sammy’s family and friends that have served our country, and for his love of dogs, to please make a memorial contribution to K9’s for Warriors, 114 Camp K9 Rd.
