Obituary for Mr. Samuel “Big Sam” Giordano Sr. Samuel “Big Sam” Giordano Sr. age 68 years of Clarksboro died Sunday September 30, 2018 in Penn Presbyterian Hospital, Philadelphia with his family by his side. Sam was born in Camden and raised in Paulsboro where he graduated from Paulsboro High School Class of 1968. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
Sam joined the Paulsboro Police force as a patrolman and later retired as a Sergeant after 23 years of service with the East Greenwich Police Department. He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. John’s Church, past member of East Greenwich Parks and Recreation Committee, served on the Executive Board of E.G. Little League and was a founder of E.G. Midget Football League. He enjoyed coaching sports, helping his community and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Carole Giordano (nee Alcott) of Clarksboro; his children, Jennifer Pieta of Mantua, Samuel Jr. and Gina Giordano of Clarksboro; his grandchildren, Mark, Alexandria, Madison Jane, Ezra, Amelia, Elliana and Olivia and his sister, Marie and Richard Keuler of West Deptford. Sam was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Amelia Giordano, his brother, Nicholas Giordano and his sister, Catherine Askin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Friday October 5, 2018 in St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. John’s Church, 7th and Beacon Aves.
