Samuel Nicholas Rettler (73) passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. He is finally at home with Jesus and free from pain. He is now playing catch with his beloved Charlie.

Sam was born January 26, 1945, in Black Creek to Milo and Caroline (Stephani) Rettler. He married Mary Ward in April 1967. They were fortunate to have 51 wonderful years of marriage together.

Sam moved to Appleton where he was a loving father to his three children. He was always willing to lend a hand to any neighbor, friend or family in need. Sam was a machinist for almost 50 years.

All those years working with meticulous precision carried through to all aspects of his life. All his remodeling projects around the house were accurate to the micro-millimeter! Sam grew up at R&R Lanes helping his parents run the bowling alley.

He was very proud of his many perfect 300 games. He spent a lot of time out in the outdoors fishing, hunting for deer, pheasants, bear and anything else in sight. Sam also loved watching tv.

You could always guarantee to see the History channel, National Geographic or a Western. Time spent with his grandchildren watching them at their sporting events was another great pleasure of his. They always brought him much happiness.

Sam is survived by his wife Mary and children Melissa (Jerry) Monnier, Brad (Michelle) Rettler and Chad (Betsy) Rettler.
