Richard “Dick” Eckrich, age 78, of Fox Crossing, joined hands with the Lord on December 19, 2018 after a courageous 3 year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on March 3, 1940 to the late Morgan and Ethel (Seager) Eckrich in Neenah, WI. Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force in March of 1960.

One of his duties through SAC was to service and maintain the B-52’s. After 4 years of service to his country, he met his wife Sue Erdmann and they were married on September 30, 1967. Together they shared 51 wonderful years.

Richard enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family and friends and also his old fashions with brussel sprouts. He also has a dog named Molly he loved very much. He was a member of the NRA, Appleton Rifle and Pistol Club, and was a dedicated WWII memorabilia collector.

Richard is survived by his wife; Sue, 2 daughters; Traci (Bill) Reinke, Julie (Willy) Managan, and 2 brothers; Gordon and Jeffery Eckrich. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, and his father and mother in law; Fritz and Ethel Erdmann.

A funeral service will take place for Richard on Wednesday December 26, 2018 at 11:30 AM at Valley Funeral Home 2211 N. Richmond St. Appleton with Pastor Sandra Crase officiating. Richard’s family will receive friends and relatives from 9:00 AM until the time of service. A special thank you to Dr. Timothy Goggins and his caring staff, and ThedaCare Hospice workers; especially Amy and Joan.

A memorial fund has been established by the family for Stiggys Dogs; a nonprofit organization rescuing dogs and training them to be service dogs for Vets with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries.
