Obituary for Samuel Reed Kennedy Farmville…………………………………. . Samuel Reed Kennedy, age 72, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at his home.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, July 13, at 11:00 A.M.at the Farmville Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. and other times at the Parker House. Mr. Kennedy was a member of Marlboro Original Free Will Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon for many years.

He retired from Collins & Aikman after 35 years of service. He enjoyed singing and playing gospel music, most notably with The Marlboro Boys. He loved playing golf, fishing, the Carolina Tarheels and the Chicago Cubs.

However, his favorite pastime was watching his boys play ball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Sam and Mary Lee Kennedy; and sister, Jessie Lee Kennedy.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Kennedy of the home; daughter, Kristin Clemmer and husband, Charles of Farmville; son, Mike Kennedy and wife, Michelle of Farmville; sisters, Sandra Blythe of Cary and Brenda Lewis of Morehead City; brother, Stephen Kennedy of New Bern; and grandchildren, Grant Clemmer, and Davis and Reed Kennedy.
