Sandra Faye Howell, age 73, of Van, WV went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer Disease. Sandra was a lifelong Christian and a member of the Freedie FWB Church in Van. She was retired from Boone County Schools after 30 years of service.

Her hobbies were fishing the New River with her husband of 55 years, sewing, quilt making and crafting. Her most favorite past time was spending time with her granddaughters and walking with her friend Marie. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kristen; her parents, Pete and Gaye Ritchie; brothers, Billy Ritchie and Jimmy Ritchie; and sisters, Francis Browning Hopper and Shirley Bratton.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years, Mitchell of Van; children, Barry (Angela) Howell and Kelley (Alex) Massey all of Van, WV; granddaughters, Mitchelle ( Patrick) Chapman of Elizabeth City, NC, Scotti Ann Hager of South Charleston, WV and Maddie Goss of Van, WV; brothers Joe (Laney) Ritchie of Barrett, Paul (Viola) Ritchie of Peterstown and Roger Ritchie of Fairdale; sister, Sharon White of Bim; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2019 Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Rev. Steve Burns and Glen Jarvis officiating.

Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison. Pallbearers will be Alex Massey, Pete Ritchie, Joe Ritchie, Delmar Browning, Gary “Droop” Howell, Chuck Gibson, Wendell Harper and Mark White. Friends may call two hours prior to the service.
