Sandra M. (Greenall) Fitzsimmons passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Mt. St. Vincent Nursing Home after a short illness. Known originally as Marion Rose Fry, she was born in England and spent her early years in an orphanage where she was adopted by George and Mabel Greenall of Evesham, England.

As a teenager, she came to the United States and attended St. Mary’s High School in Westfield where she later graduated. Sandy met and married John Fitzsimmons and raised four children. When her youngest child went off to kindergarten, she returned to school and earned a business certificate.

She worked for the Housing Allowance Program (HAP) for many years in the accounting department before she retired. She was a very active communicant of St. Peters/St. Casmir’s Parish as a member of the choir, Grandparent’s Group, and faithful Rosarian. To further fulfill her love of singing she joined the Do-Rae-Me singers from the Westfield Senior Center.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband John in 2006 and is survived by her loving children, Andrew Fitzsimmons and his wife Arlene of Colorado Springs, CO. Lisa A. Connors of West Springfield, James C. Fitzsimmons and his fiancé Lisa of Southwick and John W. Fitzsimmons and his wife Melinda of Agawam, and her nine cherished grandchildren, Curtis, Cody, John, Sean, Kassandra, Sandy, Cameron, Olivia and Maxwell. She is also survived by several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews residing in England as well as several nieces, nephews and good friends living locally.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9AM from the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Peters/St. Casmir’s Parish, State St. Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton RD. Westfield.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 PM in the funeral home. Donations in Sandy’s name may be directed to St. Peters/St. Casmir’s Church, 34 State St. Westfield, MA 01085 or to the Westfield Homeless Cat Project, 1124 East Mountain Rd. Westfield, MA 01085.
