Sandra L. Herman, 76, of Steubenville died Monday, December 17, 2018 at Valley Hospice. She was born November 9, 1942 in Steubenville. She is the daughter of the late Venance and Katherine Broyles Checkler.

Sandra was a retired Registered Nurse from Deering Hospital in Florida and worked at the former St. John’s Hospital for many years. She was a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School class of 1960. Surviving are her husband Larry Herman, whom she married April 28, 1988; one son Mark (Jessica) Mieczkowski of Riverside, IL and one step-son Barry (Terri) Herman of Laurel, MD; one brother Jerry Checkler of Steubenville; three grandchildren John, Zach and Joe Mieczkowski; nephews Carlo, Anthony and Angelo Canella.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 12 pm until time of Mass at 1 pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Tom Nau will celebrate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
