Obituary for Santa Walazek (Rizzo) Of Newton, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning June 13th, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Boynton Beach, Florida. She was 94. Born on March 27, 1924 in Waltham; daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (DiGiuseppe) Rizzo.

Santa was raised and educated in Waltham, and had been a resident of the Auburndale section of Newton for many years. A graduate of Waltham High School, Santa worked for the Raytheon Corporation in Waltham as an Executive Secretary for close to 50 years. Santa had been a dedicated member of the Regina Margherita Di Savoia #1094 Lodge of the Sons Of Italy in Waltham, Massachusetts, serving in numerous capacities over the years.

She was a passionate Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan. She enjoyed reading the Boston Globe. Beloved wife of the late Raymond S. Walazek.

Santa is survived by her devoted & loving daughter Barbara M. Halleran and her husband Richard “Dick” Halleran formerly of Waltham, her cherished grandchildren Raymond Halleran and his wife Rosa of Waltham, Richard Halleran of NH, and Rosemarie Ward and her husband Christopher of FL, and her dear sister Domenica “Mimi” Luca of Maynard. In addition she is survived by 6 cherished great grandchildren, an adoring great granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces & grand nephews. Dear sister of the late Josephine Furdon, Angelina Musci, Christine Rizzo, Gaetano, Anthony, Salvatore and Basil Rizzo.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM on Friday morning June 22nd at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Santa’s Life at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St., Waltham at 10:o0 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday June 21st from 4 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants on duty. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Santa’s memory to the Regina Margherita Di Savoia #1094 Sons Of Italy Scholarship Fund, 99 Cedar Street, Waltham, Massachusetts 02453.
