Obituary for Sara Hermann Sara Hermann (nee Haydl), age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 26, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 1, 1932 in Zuckmantel, Transylvania/Romania to the late Karl and Sara (nee Kramer) Haydl. Sara was preceded in death by her husband John, now to be reunited in Heaven.
Dear sister of Katherine (the late Sam) Dowhoshyia and Albert (Peggy) Haydl; loving mother to Elisabeth (friend Pete) Miller, Hanz (Barb) Hermann and Trudy (Dieter) Schaef; beloved grandmother of Timothy (Krista) Miller, Jenny (Jason) Potts, Katie Hermann, Dr. John Hermann, PhD, Steve (Autumn) Schaef and Kristie (Bill) Meekins; beloved Great Oma to T.J. Anderson, Aaliyah, and Jaxson Miller, Chloe, Dylan, and Isaac Schaef, Jay and Kira Meekins. Sara also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and will be missed. Sara was a proud Transylvanian Saxon, having been very active at the Westside Sachsenheim, cofounding a Children’s Saxon dance group in the 60’s, and volunteering many an hour in the catering kitchens of the Westside Sachsenhiem.
She was a member of ATS Branch 4 and served for many years as a member and President of the Damenchor Saxonia. Sara found strength in her faith and was a member of Teutsch/St. Thomas/Bethany English Lutheran Churches. She was a smart and hard worker, not only at home, but also at Triad Metal Products from where she proudly retired after many years of employment.
Sara loved to garden, to bake and to cook, especially for the many family events and holidays at her home. Another favorite pastime was crocheting. She made sure that every grandchild had a custom blanket when they were born and footies when they could walk.
Family will receive friends on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 4-8PM in the Sunset Chapel 6245 Columbia Rd. North Olmsted, OH 44070, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10AM. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave.
