Obituary for Sarah Rose Million FORT WORTH – Our beloved Sarah Rose Million passed away tragically on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018. Her life was one of selflessness, loyalty, kindness, and curiosity.
Sarah Rose was born with her eyes wide open to the world on July 19, 1993. As a young child, she loved Fort Worth Museum School, UCC Preschool and Sunday school at Broadway Baptist Church. She attended elementary school at Lily B. Clayton in her cozy, friendly neighborhood of Berkeley Place.
These were very happy years where she would make lifelong friends and have amazing teachers who would encourage her love of learning. Each year, she looked forward to Invention Convention, History Fair and Science Fair. While at Sweet Lily B, she was a member of Girl Scout troop 3017 from Brownies to Junior Girl Scouts.
She spent many fun times at meetings, and campouts, especially the times at Mo-Ranch. She earned the Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can receive. She loved music and played piano, as well as trying cello and clarinet.
She attended McLean Middle School and Paschal High School. While at McLean she started on the Whiz Quiz team, continued through her Paschal years and won many city championships. At Paschal, she was a member of the Swim Team, National Honor Society, Student Council, a member of Royal Purple, and was a National Merit Commended Scholar, graduating in the top 3% of her class.
While in high school, she and her family began attending Arborlawn United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed going on the youth group mission trips. A fourth generation Sooner, she attended her first OU football game before she could walk. She graduated from The University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors Degree in Zoology with an Art Minor.
While at OU, she studied abroad at Oxford. Sarah Rose always had a deep love for living creatures of all kinds: animals, reptiles, fish, and bugs. Among her many pets through the years were, tadpoles, frogs, a turtle, hermit crabs, guinea pigs, parakeets, a tarantula, a snake, geckos, dogs and cats.
She loved books and read constantly. Many times she was told, “Please put the book away”. Always with a pen or pencil in hand, she drew on any scrap of paper available.
She was a talented artist, and an excellent and adventurous cook. She was a fiercely loyal friend and a unique and special soul. She saw no color, race, social status or gender when choosing a friend.
She made Internet friends all over the world with whom she loved to chat and play video games. She even traveled abroad to meet them personally. At the time of her death, Sarah Rose was planning on attending the University of Newcastle, Newcastle on Tyne, United Kingdom, to get her Masters in Animal Science.
