Sarah’s Obituary Sarah Williford Armstrong passed away peacefully on May 27, 2019 at 7:03 am at Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Smith County, Texas at the age of 89. She spent the last 5 years at Oakbrook Nursing Home, close to her daughter in Whitehouse, Texas She was born February 10, 1930 to parents Neely and Cynthia Williford in McCoy, Atascosa County, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and 12 siblings: Brothers: J.C., Lloyd, Royce, Clifford, and Cleve Sisters: Anna Dee, Jo, Winnie, Mae, Kathrine, JoNell and Marjorie Sarah married George Millard “G.M.” Armstrong Jr. on July 24, 1946.

They remained in love for 64 years until G.M.’s death January 11, 2011. They adopted 2 children: Don Derek Armstrong, born January 17, 1965 and Kathrine Renee Darnell, born on January 12, 1967. Don Derek Armstrong has 1 son: Joe Douglas “J.D.” Armstrong Kathrine Renee Darnell is married to Walter Kent Darnell and they have a combined family of 9 children; Walter Kendall, Kerry Robert, Gregory Michael Edmonds, Briana Contreras and husband Miguel, Kensey Raymond, Kathrine Nicole Edmonds, Kelsey Diana, Kristina Elizabeth and Kentson Lee.

Sarah was very active at First Baptist Church Wylie, Texas where she participated in the Happy Circle and worked alongside her husband as Sunday School Teachers at Wylie Nursing Home. She had many friends who loved going to garage sales and cleaning houses together. She was known for her hospitality often entertaining family and friends around her table.

She will be missed very much. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in the Draper Chapel at First Baptist Church Wylie. Her funeral will begin at 11:00 am in the Draper Chapel with Dr. A. L. Draper officiating.

Interment will follow at the Wylie Cemetery.
