Shannon (Christensen) Harker, 60, of Herriman, UT passed away at Draper Rehabilitation and Care Center on July 4, 2018 after battling Multiple Sclerosis for several years. She was born on November 23, 1957 in Salt Lake City, UT to William Ted and Nedra (Labrum) Christensen. She graduated from Bingham High School.

Shannon moved to Arizona and married the love of her life, Norman Gregg Harker, in Phoenix, AZ on November 18, 1981. She excelled as a Budget Analyst with Citizens Utilities before retiring due to health reasons. Shannon was an incredible woman who had the most amazing passion for life and an infectious laugh that will stay with us forever.

She enjoyed an active lifestyle full of boating, traveling and volunteering. Shannon loved animals and enjoyed spending time with her dogs (Spud, Sheena, Runkie, Mickie, & Scooter), African Grey parrot (Boo Boo), Desert Tortoise (Buckie) and Galapagos Tortoise (Gus) over the years. Family and friends were very important to Shannon, and she always put others first.

She truly brightened the lives of anyone who crossed her path and made each of us want to be better. No matter what obstacles she faced, she always pushed through with a positive attitude, renewed hope, and unwavering strength and courage. Through her journey, she taught us to live life to the fullest, to love beyond measure, to laugh until we cried, and to never ever give up.

Shannon was a fighter – a true warrior and an everlasting inspiration to so many. She will live on in our hearts, in our memories, and in the stories we’ll share, forever. Shannon is survived by her husband, her “sweetheart”, Gregg Harker; daughter, her “mija”, Brandy Williams (Jason); step-son, Todd Harker; granddaughters, Jordyn & Tylar Williams; mother, Nedra Christensen; sister, Brenda Cramer (Sean); brother, Mike Christensen (Kim); brother, Jerry Christensen; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews, friends, and her family at Draper Rehab.

Other family members now deceased, include her father William Ted, and brother Del Christensen (Kay). Special thanks to the all of staff at Draper Rehab and Tender Care Home Health and Hospice for truly loving her and making her last days as pain free and comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Shannon’s honor to any Human Society, or local animal shelter, would be an appropriate and appreciated way to celebrate her love of animals.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
