OBITUARY Sharon Kay King July 19, 1942 – July 18, 2018 Sharon Kay (Hammond) King, of East Lansing, was born July 19th, 1942 to LeRoy and Marjorie (Cole) Hammond and passed away July 18th, 2018. Dr. King was Professor Emeritus of the Michigan State University College of Nursing. Sharon loved people and saw beauty all around her.

She was a loving wife and mother and an incredibly proud grandmother. Proceeded in death by her dearly loved husband, Darrell; treasured daughter, Amy and cherished parents. Surviving are daughters, Nancy Ann (Frank) Swierz of Saline, MI, Carol Lynn (Joe) Porkka of Bellevue, WA and son-in-law, Ken Lock of Grosse Pointe, MI; grandchildren, Katherine Swierz, Eli Porkka, Owen Porkka, Evan Lock and Andrew Lock; brothers, Larry (Jenny) Hammond and Richard Hammond.

A memorial service will be held in September. Contributions may be made to the Amy L. King Memorial Endowment at Michigan State University or Edgewood United Church of Christ, 469 N. Hagadorn, East Lansing, MI 48823 in honor of Dr. Sharon K. King. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Lansing Chapel.
