OBITUARY Robert R. Fedore January 7, 1926 – October 23, 2018 Robert “Bob” Fedore passed away peacefully on October 23, 2018 at the age of 92, sitting in his favorite chair with his devoted dog, Corky, by his side. Bob was born January 7, 1926 to Edith and Herman Fedore in Jackson, MI. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp.

He served with distinction in the Pacific Theater and was selected to attend the preparatory school for admission into the U. S. Naval Academy. Due to a football injury, he received an honorable discharge and entered the University of Michigan. During that time he met the love of his life, Patricia Clark and was married on June 19, 1948.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Biology in 1950. From 1951 to 1962, he taught biology and coached football, wrestling and golf teams at Jackson High School. In 1953 he received a Master’s degree from the U of M in counseling and served as a high school counselor, in addition to his teaching responsibilities.

Bob assumed a position as Associate Director of Admissions at Michigan State University in 1962. In 1964 he moved to the MSU Office of Student Affairs as Associate Dean. He received his Ph.D. in 1969 and in 1970 he moved his family to Missoula, MT where he was Dean of Students and Professor of Education at the University of Montana.

He loved his time in Missoula, but family called him back to Michigan and in 1973 he returned to MSU as Associate Dean of Student Affairs in the College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 1980 he became a Professor of Community Medicine, specializing in gerontology. After retirement, he spent lots of time with his family, traveled and served on the East Lansing Senior Citizens Council.

Bob enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, fishing, hunting, gardening, MSU sports, golfing, coaching, telling WWII stories, watching the Hallmark channel and traveling to Wyoming. He also was a master woodworker building his own kitchen cupboards and he was known as the “pickle fairy”, as he loved canning pickles and dilly beans. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Fedore.

Surviving are four children; Dan (Kim Lisco) Fedore, Jan (Fred) Derksen, Craig (Therese Wood) Fedore and Libby (Bob) Richardson; ten grandchildren, Slade (Danielle) Fedore, Cale (Kolby Brown) Fedore, Dan (Emily) Derksen, Michael (Jackie Milose) Derksen, Rachel (AJ) Tremont, Lauren (Jeremiah) Tracy, Claire Fedore, Ross Fedore, Brianna Richardson and Tess Richardson; seven great-grandchildren, several honorary grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Ford of Jackson; nieces, nephews and cousins; care-giver Kara and his faithful but annoying dog, Corky. He was so proud of his family and rarely missed a sporting event or school activity of his grandchildren. His only regret was not having the Publishers Clearing House prize patrol come knock on his door.

A Celebration of Life will be held in June of 2019. Details will be available on the website in the spring. On line condolences may be made at www.
