Obituary for Shirley Ann Meier Shirley Ann Meier, age 91, most recently of Buford, GA, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Shirley was born in Alma, WI on March 9, 1927. She graduated from Hastings High School and spend most of her life in Hastings, MN.

She worked as a secretary at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for several years, was a cook at Cooper Elementary School, and worked for 38 years for School District 200. For almost all of those 38 years, Shirley served as the secretary to the Superintendent of School District 200. Shirley married Dwayne F. Meier on September 7, 1948 and they had two sons, Steve, of Brentwood, CA and Alan of Buford, GA (suburb of Atlanta).

She was an active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church throughout her life and for several years was the church’s choir director. At the age of 79, she retired from the school district. In October 2010, she moved to Buford, GA to be close to her son Alan and his family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne; parents, Arthur and Helen Herrmann; brothers, Ivan and Albert. She is survived by her sons, Alan (Lori) and Steve; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother, Rich and his family. A memorial service will be held Friday (6/1) at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 202 8th St. W., Hastings.
