Obituary for Shirley Ann Sharkey Shirley A Sharkey (Nee Krause) of Avon Lake passed away peacefully Saturday night with many of her loved ones in the room and by her side. Shirley had quite a few long hospital stays in the past few months but for her 85 years she was very healthy and very independent. She was considered by many to be a Christian Ambassador, often reading scripture and talking of The Holy Spirit.
She was very spiritual. Shirley was born in Amherst, Ohio in 1933 and lived, attended school and graduated from Amherst High School. She had many jobs over the years including the Chronicle Telegram, Amherst New Times and Lorain Journal.
She worked as a waitress for many years and retired from the Brown Derby in Lorain in the mid 90’s. Shirley is survived by son, Douglas (Terry) Graham of North Ridgeville, Daughter Michelle (Robert) Woods of Sheffield Lake, Son Jeffery Sharkey of Avon Lake and Daughter in Law, Tina Graham of Amherst, Ohio. She had 11 Grand Children: (Mark, Eric, Monique, Jennifer, Jayson, Jamie, Sierra, Katie, Brandon, Jeffrey and Jacob.
) and was now beginning to enjoy great grand- children and even great- great grand -children. Also surviving is Brother Ted (Sally) Krause of Brownhelm and many nieces and nephews who were close to her for all her life. She leaves behind great friends and relatives Sandy Barnes and Peg Pearson of Avon Lake.
Also, the many friends she had at Beach Cliff Towers in Avon Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Sharkey in 2003, her son Richard Graham in 2015 and grandson Anthony Graham in 1988, her parents Harold and Margarette Krause, Brother’s Donald and wife Rita Krause, brother James and wife Rosemary Krause, brother Gerald Krause and Brother Ken Krause. One of her life -long friends Mary Ann Kaminski of Avon Lake, preceded her in death only a month ago.
Visitation will be Friday December 28th at 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Sheffield Church of God, 2280 North Abbe Road, Sheffield, Ohio with a memorial service following immediately at 12:00 noon with Pastor Scott Skeens officiating. The family asks that any memorial donation be made to the Cleveland Clinic Hospice of Avon. Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
