Obituary for Shirley Bowen Gammon CHATHAM, Shirley Bowen Gammon, age 79, of Chatham, entered into rest on February 5, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on August 8, 1938, in Pittsylvania County, the daughter of the late Benny Lee Bowen and the late Emma Owen. She was married to the late Hylton Edward Gammon.

She was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, and caregiver to many. She is survived by two daughters, Judy G. Carter and her husband Wayne of Collinsville and Wanda J. Gammon and her fiancé Steve Griffin of Chatham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianne Gammon; a son, Edward Gammon; and two sisters, Mildred B. Smith and Doris B. Tosh Funeral services will be conducted at Hollywood Baptist Church on Wednesday February 7, 2018 at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow at Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Tuesday February 6, 2018 from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm and at other times will be at the residence of Steve Griffin, 3340 Weal Rd. Chatham, VA 24531.
