Obituary for Pauline “Polly” Higdon Pauline “Polly” Higdon, 89, of Falls Church, VA, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on September 13, 2018 in Chatham, VA. Polly was born in Trego, Maryland to Edna and Wilber Grimm on July 15, 1929. She was married to William “Frank” Higdon for 43 years until his death in 1989.
Polly was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed gardening, all varieties of flowers, selling AVON and rooting for her favorite football team, the Washington Redskins. She was a member of Rohrersville Methodist Church as a child and later attended The United Methodist Church of Falls Church, VA.
While residing at Chatham Health and Rehab she attended all services and sent care packages to the children of Faith Baptist Church, Fincastle VA. Polly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers, Richard Grimm and Herbert Grimm. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Ryland) Fountain of Holden Missouri, Don Higdon of Manassas, Denise, “Dee” (John) Fruit of Hull Illinois and Dennis (Donna) Higdon of Chatham VA.
Sisters Margaret Rohrer and Delores Duncan, Grandchildren Ian Fountain, Aimee Drury, Evan Fountain, Step-grandchildren Eric Lawhorn and Brian Lawhorn. Great grandchildren: Logan, Arwen, Liem and Zachary Fountain. Daniel and Patrick Drury, Step-great grandchildren Liam Mia, Everett, Oliver, Wesley, and Brendan Lawhorn.
The family of Polly Higdon wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care given over these past six years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 2pm with visitation at 1pm prior to the service at Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor, Dr. John Reynolds, officiating.
