Obituary for Larry Jackson Orange BLAIRS, Larry Jackson Orange, age 81, of Blairs, VA, entered into rest on December 16, 2018 at SOVAH Health in Danville. He was born on January 24, 1937, in Bedford, the son of the late Larry Nelson Orange and the late Ruby Carter Orange. He is survived by his wife, Calixta “Esther” Torres Orange.
He proudly served our country for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam conflict before retiring in 1977 with the rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring he worked at Brockway Glass for 13 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Laurie Annette Orange (Thomas) Klatt of Mechanicsville; and a son, Leonard Edward (Jane) Orange of Mechanicsville; seven grandchildren, Alyssa (Sawyer) Radler, Erica Orange, Kelly Orange, Emily (Thomas) Garnett, Gabrielle Klatt, Rebekah Klatt, and Samantha Klatt; a step grandaughter, Kelsey Buikema; a great-grandchild, Finn Radler; and two sisters, Lois Ruff and Thelma (Carl) Perkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Wallace Orange. Funeral services will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home on Thursday December 20, 2018 at 12:00 pm with Rev. Steven J. Carlton officiating.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Wednesday December 19, 2018 from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm and again prior to the service from 11 am-12 pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Peace Corps Global Fund.
