Shirley Marie Deyle, 88, Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in Bethany on 42nd, Fargo, ND. Shirley was an only child, born July 1, 1929, to Walmer T. and Christine (Johnson) Evenson, in Sisseton, SD. She graduated from Fargo Central HS in 1947.

Shirley furthered her education to be a secretary. Shirley married Henry Deyle on March 25, 1952 in Fargo, ND. They lived in Fargo until 1987.

During this time, Shirley worked at Norwest Bell until her children were born. When her children all were in school she did some volunteer work until she went to work for NDSU. She started working in the library and ended her 25 years there working as the secretary for the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

In 1987, she relocated with her husband in Bloomington, MN, where she worked as a secretary for a lawyer until retiring at 65 years old. They relocated back to Fargo in 2003. This made it possible to enjoy their grandchildren’s many activities.

Henry & Shirley had recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Shirley enjoyed playing cards, daily crossword puzzles, needle work, reading, and doing volunteer work. She also loved traveling with family and friends.

Shirley and Henry were blessed with three children: Steven (Betty Dessants) Deyle of Houston, TX, Rebecca (Robert) Winbauer of Olympia, WA, and Timothy (Alvina) Deyle of Fargo, ND. Shirley was the loving grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers-in-law, Edwin (Eldavera) and Roger Deyle; 3 sisters-in-law, Eileen Deyle, Olivia (Gary) Lake, and Gladys Flink.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers-in-law: Emanuel Deyle, Fred Flink, Virgil Flink, and one sister-in-law: Wilma Flink. The family would like to thank the wonderful and kind staff of Bethany Homes on 42nd in Fargo for their excellent care of Shirley.
