Shirley Jeanette “Jean” Morris, 86 HARTFORD CITY – Shirley Jeanette “Jean” Morris, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born in Trenton, MI on April 3, 1932 to Thomas Roy Callender and Florence L. (Lord) Callender. Both her parents preceded her in death.

Shirley married Raymond “Howard” Morris on June 3, 1955 at Hartford City Wesleyan Church, where they were married by Rev. Coleson and the second couple to ever be married in the church located on Cherry Street. Her husband precedes her in death on December 6, 2006.

She had been an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Nursing at Ball Memorial Hospital and Purchasing Agent for Blackford County Hospital. She retired in 1997. She attended Hartford City Wesleyan Church and The Gathering in Muncie, where she was always very engaged in her faith and church.

Shirley enjoyed reading and sharing her beautiful singing voice. She had always been a progressive thinker and has never let her mind settle on how things used to be. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sherrill (husband, Roger) White of Albany; sons, Tim (wife, Cindy) Morris of Portland and Steve (wife, Marta) Morris of Prague; grandchildren, Shawn (wife, Lara) Morris, Brad (wife, Lindsey) Morris, Emily Morris (fiancé, Harold Ratcliff), Ben (wife, Suzanne) Higgs and Sara (husband, David) Pullen; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her brother, George H. Veness and Florence “Babe” Veness. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High Street, Hartford City. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Eaton, IN.

Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Keplinger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospice, 2401 W. University Ave. , Muncie, IN 47303 Online condolences may be sent to www.
