Obituary for Sophie Kelly Sophie Josephine Dywan Kelly, 87, of 1110 Marshall Road, Greenwood, widow of Col. Francis A. Kelly, USAF, died Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Wesley Commons. Born in Massena, NY, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Mazur Dywan.

Mrs. Kelly taught school for 42 years at various locations around the world, ending with a long tenure with Rome, NY City School District. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Greenwood, SC and in her free time, she enjoyed volunteering for civic causes, traveling, bowling, golfing and reading. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jenn Downey; and four brothers, Joseph P., Theodore J., Chester S. and Zigmon Dywan.

Surviving are a brother, Andrew F. Dywan (Carol) of Ninety Six, SC; and two sisters Lillian Ruocco of Corning, NY and Mary Jones (Gil) of Greenwood, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Father Timothy Tebalt officiating. The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 10-11 am.
