David Russell Wash, 55, resident of 118 Sagewood Road, husband of Kelly Byrd Wash, passed away Tuesday, July 03, 2018, at Self Regional Medical Center. Born March 16, 1963, in Greenwood, he was a son of Josephine “Jo” Miner Wash and the late Harold Augustus Wash. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and was the owner/operator of Green Acres Landscape and Lawn Care.

A former attendant of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Edgefield, and West Side Baptist in Greenwood, he attended… Read More » First Baptist Church of Greenwood and was a member of the Upper Savannah Shooters Association and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid bass fisherman and deer hunter and enjoyed whitewater rafting. Russell was a regular contributor to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and supported their efforts for the cure of childhood cancer.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother of Greenwood are a son, Matthew Wash of Greenville; two daughters, Mikayla Wash and Virginia Hamlett (Mark Linsenbigler), all of Greenwood; a sister-in-law, Janet Wash of Charlotte; two nephews, Joe and Keifer Wash. He was predeceased by his father and a brother, Ricky Wash. Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday in the Chapel of First Baptist Church with the Rev.

Dr. Tony Hopkins officiating. Honorary escort will be his nephews along with Nick Satterfield, Barry Briskin, Porfirio Vazquez, Butch Martin, Gus Byrd, Brooks Byrd, Mark Linsenbigler, Larry Wash, Charlie Wiggins and Scurry Charles. The family will be at the home of his mother, 118 Sagewood Road, and will have a reception and celebration of his life in the church social hall immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
