Obituary for Stanley N. “The Mailman” Thompson Stanley N. Thompson, aged 88 years of Fairfield Twp. , passed away Tuesday evening July 31, 2018 in Inspira Medical Center, Vineland where he had been a patient for the past three weeks. Born in Millsboro, Delaware he was the son of the late Samuel Benton Jackson and Dorothy Mae Thompson, and the husband of Julia (nee Gould) Thompson who passed away in 2002.

Stanley was known in the community as the “Mailman” working for 34 years with the United States Postal system; retiring in 1992 as Postmaster for the Cedarville office. He was a veteran of the US Army proudly serving during the Korean War era. He had been an area resident since 1934 after moving to New Jersey and working on many farms in the area.

He and his late wife Julia were married January 12, 1952. He loved hunting, but his heart and soul was fishing. He and his family enjoyed many summers on fishing trips to Alaska.

He was a member of the Fortescue Anglers, also a former Cub Scout Leader, and also served as a board member for Cumberland Regional High School. He loved his church and was a long time member of John Wesley United Methodist Church. Stanley was known for celebrating the 4th of July hosting picnics which he named the “Love Fest”.

Surviving him are his children, Tonia Thompson, Drew Thompson and his wife J’Vone all of Fairfield Twp. , Lewis Loatman and wife Marion of Sicklerville, Anthony Loatman and wife Cheryl of Millville, a sister in law Norma Gould of Fairfield Twp. , six grandchildren, Braxton T. Thompson, Cameron Thompson, Michelle Biddle, Lisa Loatman Cline, Kevin Loatman, Mark Loatman, three great grandchildren, Julia Cline, William Cline, Maurice Biddle III and many nieces , nephews, and various relatives.

He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday morning August 8, 2018 at 11:00a.m.from John Wesley United Methodist Church, 90 Matthew Brown Way Bridgeton, NJ. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.
