Stella’s Obituary Our Lord and Savior called Stella Ann Sprouls Durham home on January 24, 2019. Stella was born in Durant, Oklahoma on September 15, 1936 to Gilbert Worley Sprouls and Ethel Eleanor Fuller Sprouls. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School and in 1958 received her B.A. from Baylor University.

She went on to complete her master’s degree in Education from Texas Christian University. Stella was a life-long educator and taught special education in Burleson Independent School District; retiring in 1997. Stella married the love of her life, Stanley Sullivan Durham, in 1994.

Stanley preceded Stella in death passing on November 26, 2018. They both retired and had many happy years living on the coast in Port Aransas, Texas in a house they built together. Stella began breeding and showing collies in the early 1970’s and established Mirabeau Collies.

At the time of her death she has Ch. Mirabeau Baby in Blue and Ch. Mirabeau Bells a Ringing.

Stella is survived by her daughter, Retha Cable and her husband Ruben Lerma, Jr., son, Gilbert Cable and wife Pam and grand-daughter Marcella, and step-daughter Ginger Durham Young and her husband Bob and step-granddaughter Olivia and step-daughter Libby Durham Tilley, also cousins John Allen Graves and James Graves. Special thanks to long-term caretaker, Diana Gomez, for all the love she provided over the years. Stella’s last wish was that she be buried in Durant, Oklahoma with her husband, her parents, her grandparents Ethel and Ella Fuller and Uncle Charles Fuller.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday February 1st at the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma with Bro. John Breon officiating. Services are under the direction of Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma www.
