Stephen’s Obituary Stephen Andrew Poandl, Jr., age 76, of Warrensburg passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. He was born March 31, 1943 in New Brunswick, NJ the son of Stephen and Rose Poandl, Sr. On March 31, 1964, he and Cheryl Clayton were united in marriage. Steve loved horses and spending time outdoors.

He was a cowboy from about the age of five. Steve loved piloting big planes as well as flying drones and home builds of all sizes. He was in many RC clubs in the Kansas City and Warrensburg areas.

He brought smiles to the young and old with his planes and helicopter flying. He was featured in the Daily Star-Journal in 2017 when he flew a drone around the Warrensburg Senior Center to the delight of many. Stephen is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of the home; his son Greg (Nina) Poandl of Warrensburg; brother Wayne Poandl of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister Gerri Gary of Falls of Rough, KY; and sister-in-law, Pauline (Bard) Vance of Bountiful, UT.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Rose Poandl, Sr., and a son, Keith Robert Poandl. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home with Brother Charles Brant officiating. Inurnment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army or the Alzheimer’s Association and can be left in care of the funeral home.
