OBITUARY Stephen Earl Smith June 7, 1919 – October 27, 2018 Stephen Earl Smith, age 99 of White Lake, passed away on Saturday October 27, 2018 at home with his loving family by his side. Stephen was born on June 7, 1919 in Toledo, Ohio to Walter and Esther Smith. He married Patricia on June 3,1944 in Brisbane Australia while serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII.

They have enjoyed 74 loving years together. Stephen is survived by his wife Patricia, his children Denise (and the late Charles) McCall, Patricia (Bill) Pape and Stephen D. (Exie Susanne) Smith; 3 grandchildren: Katina, Johnathan and Stephen L. Smith and 2 great grandchildren Tobie Smith and Griffin Guzman. He was preceded in death by his son Peter J. (Sandra) Smith.

Stephen was a 2nd lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during WII. He was a pilot in the New Guinea Campaign and the Bismark Sea Campaign. He was decorated with the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and 2 Bronze Stars.

Stephen retired from the GM proving grounds in 1975. He enjoyed woodworking, making clocks, rocking chairs and many other wonderful pieces. Stephen also enjoyed fishing and flying his plane.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Rd. , White Lake, Michigan. Private interment will be in Oxbow Cemetery under the Auspices of the United States Army.

Smith; 3 grandchildren: Katina, Johnathan and Stephen L. Smith and 2 great grandchildren Tobie L. Smith and Griffin Guzman. He was preceded in death by his son Peter J. (Sandra) Smith.
