John McCarley “Steve” Stevenson, III, 65, of Pahrump, NV, died November 24, 2017, in Elko, NV. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late John McCarley “Mack” Stevenson, Jr. and Winnie O’Dell Stevenson. He graduated from high school in Charleston, SC and served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Following his service, he was a long-haul trucker and was a truck driver instructor at Great Basin College, Elko, NV. He was Catholic. Surviving are his daughters, Kathi Stevenson and Winni Stevenson, both of Nevada; granddaughters, Olivia and Emma Stevenson; his sister, Patricia Poole (Ronnie) of Greenwood and his oldest and dearest friend, Mike Johnson of Charleston, SC.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Greenwood Cemetery on Cambridge Avenue with the Rev. Chris Leonard officiating. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517 (www.
