Steve Scott, 58, of Stockton, Illinois passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at his home. He was born August 19, 1960 in Geneva, Illinois and was a 1978 graduate of Geneva High School. Steve was a long-time resident of West Chicago, Illinois and worked at General Mills for thirty-nine years until the plant closed in April of 2017.

Steve was active in the West Chicago Kiwanis Club, C.E.R.T. , P.A.D.S. , and volunteered for Special Olympics for around fifteen years.

Steve was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan who couldn’t have been happier when they finally won the World Series in 2016. He loved mowing his nine-acre lawn at “the farm” in Stockton, Illinois. Steve is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Christy Scott (Peterson) of Stockton, IL; his mother, Eletta Kay Scott of Chili, WI; his three children; Derek Scott of San Diego, CA; Laurie (Jason) Winter of South Elgin, IL; and Megan (Sara) Gelsomino of Oswego, IL.

He was the loving PaPa of Caleigh and Cooper Winter and soon-to-be PaPa of Anthony Gelsomino. He is also survived by his three sisters; Kelly Scott of Hoffman Estates, IL; Renda (Jim) Faber of Wake Forest, NC; and Vicki Scott Jeralds of Chili, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father; Walter Scott and his brother; Jeffery Scott.

Steve was a very compassionate person who loved to devote his time to making the world a better place. He is so deeply missed by his family and friends, but he will live always and forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Junior Diabetes Research Fund or the Special Olympics of Illinois.

Service Information: Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Williams-Woodward Funeral Home; 820 Pine Street in West Chicago, Illinois 60185. Public visitation from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by a public service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Glen Oaks Cemetery in West Chicago, Illinois.
