OBITUARY Sue Lancaster May 11, 1933 – October 2, 2018 Sue Lancaster, age 85, of Tuscaloosa, Ala. , passed away October 2, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2018, at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Hayse Boyd officiating.

Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester B. Koon and Ruby R. Koon of Gordo; and sisters, Mary Frances Koon, Ann Shirley and Jean Hollingsworth.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Wallace Lancaster; daughters, Rhonda Morrison and Debbie Watson (Sammy); brother, Billy Koon (Margaret); granddaughter, Ashley Tunnell; and great-grandsons, Hunter Tunnell and Daniel Tunnell. She was a member of the Tuscaloosa Garden Club and West Alabama Daylily Society and loved to work in her flower beds at home. Her daylilies were beautiful, were organized by name and brought joy to many friends and family.

She was an active member at First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa where she attended Dr. Hayse Boyd’s class until she was unable to, due to her health. She was also a part of the LLL and Martha ministry. She was a volunteer at DCH Regional Medical Center with the cardiac catheterization lab being her last position-where she served dutifully and made many friends.

Pallbearers will be Boyd Koon, Stewart Koon, Ethan Koon, Luke Koon, Rodney Alexander, Sammy Watson and Alan Wright. Honorary pallbearers from First Baptist Church-Samaritan Sunday school class, LLL Martha Ministries, DCH Volunteer Auxiliary, friends of Woodridge and Highland Manor, Gordo High School class of ’51, Tuscaloosa, Garden Club and Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church and Dr. Brian Wilhite. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Tuscaloosa, Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church in Gordo, or to Hospice of West Alabama.
