Susan deLynn Couey Peebles passed away on Tuesday May 14th, 2019. Susan is survived by her husband of 46 years, Louis Wayne Peebles. Wayne was the love of her life, and at eighteen years of age, she knew she had found her life partner.

She is also survived by her children, Robert Brian Peebles (Laura), Laura deLynn Watson (Brian), and Alexander Wayne Peebles (Sarah). She also leaves to cherish her five precious grand children, and one yet to be named, who were the light of her life, Emma deLynn Watson, Bradley Allen Watson, Clay Matthew Watson, John Brian Peebles, and Allison Anne Peebles. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Frank Couey, Jr. (Elizabeth) and her sister, Paula Couey Andrews (Brant), mother in law, Annie Reba Peebles, sister-in-law, Deann Morris, brother-in-law Ron Peebles, and two nephews Austin Couey and Jonathan Morris.

Susan was a Christian and never doubted that she would be reunited with her parents again when God called her home. Her parents, the late Millie Anne Couey and Robert Frank Couey predeceased her. Susan loved life and never met a stranger, be it someone on the streets of New York City or friends from Guatemala, Germany, Ecuador, and Italy.

Her passion in life was teaching, and she spent 25 years as a teacher for the Dublin City Schools. She was a graduate of Dublin High School and Mercer University. She considered teaching a calling and was thankful that she was able to pursue her passion to finish her education through the help and support of her husband and family.

She always told her students on the first day of school they belonged to her, and she would follow them throughout their school career as if they were her own children. Susan appreciated and was overwhelmed with all the love and support she received since her cancer diagnosis in December of 2014. The encouragement she received from friends and family gave her the strength to continue to fight.

Visitation will be at Townsend Funeral Home on Thursday, May 16th, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Services for Susan will be held at First Baptist Church on Friday, May 17th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Susan requested that former students and employees of Dublin City Schools serve as honorary guests. Pallbearers will be Brant Andrews, Robert Couey, Anthony Carter, Austin Couey, Jonathan Morris, and Roger Holmes.

Susan requested that memorials be made to First Baptist Church and/or the Irish Gifted Academy.
