Rotterdam – Susan N. Hillier, 76, passed away at Ellis Hospital on Sunday January 6, 2019. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rhoda Hunter Nicklas. Susan began working for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation before beginning her career with the United States Postal Service.

She retired in 2003 as the Post Mistress in Rotterdam Junction. Her husband, David Lynn Hillier, passed away August 28, 2018. Susan is survived by her children; John (the late Paulette) Hillier of Rotterdam, Christine Hillier of Rotterdam, Robert (Ruth) Hillier of Elgin, SC, Rhoda Olszowy of Rotterdam, Rebecca Hillier of Rotterdam and Joseph (Debra) Hillier of Scotia.

Grandchildren; Michael Hillier, Andrew Hillier, Jennifer Olszowy, Jessica Olszowy, Christopher Hillier, Breanna, Christine and DeAnne’. Sisters; Mary and Andrea Nicklas. She is also survived by several step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family extends their special thanks to Susan’s visiting nurse Erica. Services will be private with burial in Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Susan’s memory to the Joan Nicole Prince Home, 22 Glenview Dr., Scotia, NY 12302 or Community Hospice of Schenectady, 310 South Manning Blvd.
