Susan Emily Roberts, 68, passed away May 12, 2019. She was born on July 8, 1950 in Dallas, TX to two loving parents, Matthew Cartwright Roberts, III and Sue Howell Roberts Sloan. Susan attended Highland Park High School and the University of Arkansas.

She managed media relations for political candidates on the state level as well as in Washington D.C. for a number of years before returning to Dallas. Susan became a passionate conservationist committed to educating others about nature and protecting our Texas landscapes. In recent years, Susan lived in Terrell near the family’s award winning pristine blackland prairie meadow that she managed.

She was a living encyclopedia of the prairie and became a steward for the land that she deeply cherished. Susan was a member of the Dallas Woman’s Club, the Dallas Garden Club, Founders Garden Club, Dallas County Master Naturalists, the Dallas County Master Gardeners as well as many other volunteer and environmental associations in Dallas and Terrell. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Charles Sloan; her sisters: Ms. Kathey Roberts, Mrs. George W. Baldwin, Ms. Becky Roberts, Mrs. George R. Collins as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her beloved father, Matthew Cartwright Roberts, III, as well as her precious nephew, George R. Collins, Jr. Memorial service and celebration of Susan’s life will be at 2:00pm, Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations in Terrell, TX.
