Susan “Sue”‘s Obituary Susan (Sue) Thorson, 66, passed away March 18, 2019 at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls. Sue was born 7-4-1952 in Yankton SD. She grew up in Yankton, SD and graduated from Yankton High School in 1970.

Sue attended Freeman Jr. College in Freeman, SD graduating in December 1978 with her Practical Nursing Degree. She worked at the South Dakota Health and Human Services up until 1990. Sue was united in marriage with Clare Thorson in Yankton SD in 1970.

The couple made their home in Yankton before relocating to Sioux Falls SD in 2006. They shared their lives with sons Danny and Donnie Thorson. Sue enjoyed swimming with the Sioux Falls post-polio swim group, quilting with several quilting groups including Happy Hookers and sewing with the Days for Girls group.

When she wasn’t busying organizing her daily events, she was probably working on the next years Christmas cards so that everyone had their Christmas cards the day after Thanksgiving each year. Survivors include her husband, Clare; son, Donnie (Becky), grandchildren, Morgan, Carter, and Ross Thorson; one brother, Harry (Jenny) Max, Rapid City, SD; three sisters, Cindy (Bobby) Schaeffer, Hills, MN, Candy Hurley, Paulina, IA, Terry (Terry) Pravecek, Sioux Falls, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; son, Danny; grandparents; brother, Armand; Niece, Leana Mae Westover; and sister-in-law, Faye Knodel.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Friday, March 22, 2019 at Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation with family present will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Yankton, SD.
