Suzanne Rolfes Johnsen August 04, 1929 – January 23, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries Suzanne Rolfes Johnsen, 89, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born August 4, 1929, in Springfield, OH, she was the daughter of the late Robert Bauer Rolfes and Mary Frances Young Rolfes and widow of Theodore Norman Johnsen. Suzanne received a Bachelor’s Degree from Miami of Ohio.

After a brief stint as a High School English teacher, she joined IBM working overseas in Rome, Italy and then in New York, NY, where she met her husband. From the late 1970’s until her retirement in 2011, she was the Curriculum Director at Glen Rock Community School. Suzanne was also the founder of The Glen Rock Pops Community Orchestra in 1975.

Survivors include her sons, Mark Johnsen (Susan) of Spartanburg, SC and Charlie Johnsen of Closter, NJ; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Arrowsmith (Ryan) and Jennifer Johnsen; and a great-granddaughter, Penelope. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 9, 2019, at The Community Church of Glen Rock, 354 Rock Rd. , Glen Rock, NJ 07452.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spectrum for Living, 210 Rivervale Road Suite 3, River Vale, NJ 07675; or The Glen Rock Pops, PO Box 73, Glen Rock, NJ 07452-0073.
