OBITUARY Tanyah Serenena Whyte December 14, 1975 – October 25, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Tanyah Serenena Whyte was born in Kingston, Jamaica on December 14, 1975. She was blessed to have two mothers; her biological mother Rita Lester and her maternal mother ‘Ms. Yvonne’. Her father Keith Whyte adored her every being.
Tanyah completed her secondary education at Mona High School and St. Andrew Technical High School where she focused on business studies. While in school she was very active on the school’s hockey, netball and drama teams. She enjoyed learning and would prioritize time to complete her homework before going to play with her friends.
She was kind hearted and loving in every sense of the words. Tanyah enjoyed cooking, listening to music by (Peter Toch, Beres Hammond and Luciano) who were some of her favorite Jamaican performers. She loved hanging out with her siblings and cousins whenever she visited her grandmother ‘Sanka’.
If there is one thing that stands out is the fact that she enjoyed a good laugh. Always having a desire to travel she ventured on a trip to the United Kingdom where she lived for 5 years before returning to Jamaica. Upon her return she was employed as a receivables clerk at EBS – a hotel and restaurant supplies store in Kingston.
In 2007, Tanyah embraced motherhood and gave birth to a bouncing baby boy Acque. Three years later she migrated to the USA with her son and started life again. She went back to school and obtained her CNA license and worked in the States of MD, NJ and NY.
In 2017, she gave birth to her darling princess Tiamarie. Tanyah’s greatest gifts were her two amazing children. She enjoyed motherhood and did everything that she could possibly do to make sure that they knew how much she loved them.
She will be remembered as a selfless, altrusitic mother who always had a smile even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength which propelled her during times when her sickness was overwhelming. Tanyah would never complain and always looked forward to a brighter tomorrow.
From childhood on into adulthood she was a calm spirit. Her temperament could best be seen from the time she was diagnosed with Lupus up to her untimely passing. Tanya is survived by her mothers; biological – Rita and maternal – Yvonne, Dad – Keith, children: Acque and Tiamarie; brothers, Farrell and Samuel and sisters, Kondi, Danisha, Daniella and Margaret.
In addition she leaves to mourn, her uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of other family and friends. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. The family wishes to thank the excellent service provided by individuals at the following locations: Schwartz Brothers Jeffer Memorial LOC #4131 in Queens, Gary L Kaufman Funeral Home in Elkridge MD and Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville MD for going above and beyond to make sure that Tanyah’s Memorial Service was flawless.

In addition, we want to thank everyone who contributed their invaluable time and gifts of love during this difficult time, A viewing will be held at the Gary L Kaufman Funeral Home located at 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge MD 21075 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens located at 2150 Mount View Road, Marriottsville, MD 21104.
