Obituary for Terence J Bevilacqua Terence John Bevilacqua passed away, Saturday, June 16 at Genesis at Bey Lea, Toms River. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on Dec. 23, 1937.
He attended and graduated from Kings College, Wilkes-Barre in 1959, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English, Social Studies and Business. He later earned his Master’s Degree as a guidance counselor, director of pupil personnel services and Principal from Seton Hall University. He was a Language Arts Teacher at Readington Township Schools in Hunterdon County.
He moved to Toms River, NJ in 1967 and worked for the Toms River Board of Education from 1967-1994 as a guidance counselor, Assistant Principal and later as a Principal of Walnut Street School, Toms River. Terence also worked at Ocean County Vocational Technical School for 24 years, Ocean County Juvenile Center and Toms River Adult School as a classroom instructor for ESL and GED Programs. Terence was involved in many community activities, including Dover Twp.
Youth Advisory Committee, Toms River Lion’s Club, Toms River Elks, Ocean County Boy Scouts and Ocean County Health Committee. Terence was predeceased by his parents, Teregis and Margaret (English) Bevilacqua and son Terence (Sam) Bevilacqua. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol (Desmond) Bevilacqua; daughter, Dorothy Smith and grandchildren, Sam, Jim, and Sara.
He is also survived by brother Tom Bevilacqua and wife, Betsy and Michael Bevilacqua and wife, Pam; nephews, Tom and wife, Whitney and Michael and wife, Elizabeth. He is also survived by nephew, Alan Bevilacqua and niece, Nikki Bevilacqua. Terence loved and took very good care of his family and will be missed by all family and many wonderful friends.
Think of Terry with a happy memory. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00pm-7:00pm at “The Family Owned” Carmona Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated Thursday 1:00pm at St. Joseph’s RC Church, Toms River.
