Obituary for Teresita D. Gomez Heaven is now classier, prettier, and much more fun! Teresita Diaz-Arrastia de Gomez was born in Havana, Cuba on February 16, 1933, and passed away in Miami, Florida on October 9, 2018, after a courageous battle against Parkinson’s disease. Teresita will be remembered as an incredible mother, wife, sister and friend.
Just like her female ancestors she was empowered decades before female-empowerment was cool. For friends and family in Belle Glade, Florida and Miami, she was the go to person for medical insights, fashion and makeup advise, how to best help others, party planning, relationship situations, the list goes on and on. Among her life mantras were: ❖ Sacred Heart of Jesus I Trust in You ❖ God willing ❖ Thank God ❖ Everything happens for a reason ❖ The word can’t does not in exist in our vocabulary ❖ Always look your best, you don’t look at yourself, other people do and they deserve it ❖ Those who reach touch the stars ❖ The most important people in your life are your siblings ❖ Always be there for family no matter what ❖ Don’t worry be happy She is preceded in death by her husband Ramon F. Gomez Crusellas; her parents, Jose Maria Diaz-Arrastia and Isabel Fuentes de Diaz-Arrastia.
Her sisters Lourdes Diaz-Arrastia de Matas (Humberto†); Margot Diaz-Arrastia de Acosta (Momy†); Consuelo Diaz-Arrastia de Guerrero (Bebo†) and her brother Dr. Ramon Diaz-Arrastia (Dr. Elihut Ravelo†). She is survived by her children: Teresita Gomez Urtiaga (Carlos), Eddie Gomez (Beatriz Gurian Gomez) and Mercedes G. Petrus (Craig); and her grandsons: Eduardo R. Gomez, Jr. and Logan P. Petrus; Her sister Lourdes Matas de Cano (Jorge). Her nieces and nephews: Teresita (Tessie) Guerrero; Ana Guerrero Kondel (John); Jorge L. Cano Jr. (Nancy); Carlos Alberto Cano (Denise); Jose Ignacio Cano (Debbie); and Lourdes Maria Cano Fernandez (Luis); Dr. Ramon E. Diaz (Jennifer); Jorge Juan Diaz (Maria); Dr. Conch Diaz-Arrastia (Ed Green) and her many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Her spirit will live on through these and so many other family and friends, especially when they remember her iconic pearls, red lips, and perfectly-styled hair. A Mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 3:30 in the afternoon.
