Terry LeAnn Willoughby, Overland Park, passed from this life to the next on October 29, 2018 after a courageous battle with metastatic uveal melanoma. She was born Dec. 14, 1960 to Larry and Arlene (Wamhoff) Slaight in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She graduated from Hutchinson (KS) High School, Hutchinson Community College and Wichita State University. Terry and Russ Willoughby were married on January 2, 1988 in Wichita, KS in the Cowtown Museum. They moved to Overland Park in 1991.

Terry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her daily goal was to make someone’s life better. Walking, reading, scrapbooking, crocheting and family were her hobbies.

She loved being a daughter, sister, wife, mother, homemaker, friend and pet owner. Terry participated in several clinical trials to find a cure for this disease and the family appreciates the efforts of Dr. Takami Sato and his team at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia for all their research efforts. Terry is survived by her devoted husband, Russ; daughter, Jordan Willoughby; her parents: Arlene Jones, Hutchinson, KS, Larry and Connie Slaight, Johnston, IA; one brother, Justin Slaight (Kim), Lorraine, KS; one stepsister: Shannon Wieland (Tony), West Des Moines, IA; three stepdaughters: Paige Alexander (Ross), Gia Garner (Dustin), Mary Elizabeth Wells (Warren); 9 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.

She also leaves her cat, Faith, and her beloved dog, Fred. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Those who love the Lord will greet her again in Heaven one day.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name are suggested to a charity you believe in. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday November 1, at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM, on Friday, November 2, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,13025 Wornall, Kansas City, MO.

Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 3 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Hutchinson, Kansas.
