OBITUARY Thelma Mae Biggs March 10, 1934 – December 9, 2018 Thelma Mae Biggs, (84), a resident of St. Joseph’s Village, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at Medical City Las Colinas after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 13 at St. Joseph’s Retirement Village with the Fr. George Henninger officiating.

Thelma Mae Boudreaux was born in Kilgore, Texas to Felix Arthur and Enola Helena Boudreaux on March 10, 1934. She married Jimmy Rogers Biggs on May 11, 1951 in Kilgore. While Jimmy was in the Air Force, they lived in Greenville, South Carolina; Biloxi, Mississippi; Denver, Colorado and Spokane, Washington.

After Jimmy’s Honorable Discharge from the Air Force, they moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where they lived for 59 years. Thelma happily dedicated herself to homemaking and raising her family. She also participated in the school PTA for each of her three children.

After her children were older, she worked as a bookkeeper and then in the high school library. She was active at St. Helena’s Catholic Parish in Hobbs. She served in the altar society, baked for the annual church fair and volunteered weekly keeping the books for the church.

She and Jimmy moved to Christus St. Joseph’s Village in April 2014 to be closer to family. Last May they celebrated 67 years of marriage. During the last four years Thelma experienced a wonderful caring community and support among friends.

She shared social time in the deli and participated in the weekly social events. Always a devout Catholic, she enjoyed attending Mass daily. Thelma is preceded in death by her mother, father, and a sister, Shirley Boudreaux.

She is survived by her husband Jimmy and a sister, Ethelyn Payne, of Bellingham, Washington. Her children include Angela Biggs Whitehead, husband Mark, David Biggs, wife Carla and Mitchell Biggs, wife Susan. Her grandchildren include Allison Whitehead Leediker, husband Drew, Grant Whitehead, Jordan Biggs, Eileen Biggs and Corporal Nicholas David Biggs, stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejune, North Carolina.

Memorials may be given to a charity of your choice. The Family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to our friends at St. Joseph’s for welcoming Thelma into their lives. A Rosary service will be held at St. Joseph’s prior to interment at Dallas – Fort Worth National Cemetery in the Spring of 2019.
