Obituary for Theodore Young Miller FORT WORTH – Theodore “Teddy” “Theo” Young Miller was born April 7, 1970 in Austin. He left this world on October 14, 2018. He attended Oakridge School and Dallas Arts Magnet school where he won awards for metal sculpting.
He primarily worked in construction. He is survived by his two children, Haillye Young Miller and Mason Carrington Miller and well as his parents Kay and John DiPalma, and David Miller. Teddy also leaves behind his step brothers John and Jeff DiPalma, and half sisters Melanie Cottier, Maren Era and Melora Hartman.
His contagious smile will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, most of whom he helped in one way or another. Teddy wasn’t a millionaire, but he had something money can’t buy…countless friends, a genuine smile and a warm hug for everyone he encountered. He knew that it’s not what you have, it’s how you have touched others that matters most.
Once you met Teddy, you had a friend forever. He lived by the mantra “a friend is the best thing you can have and the best thing you can be”. Teddy was a loving son, proud father and the kind of friend everyone should be lucky enough to have in their lives.
He was proud beyond measure of his wonderful children. Each of whom possess the best parts of their father- compassion, open mindedness and a love of life. As his mother’s only child, he was exceptionally close to her.
They spoke almost daily and she will cherish those conversations forever. Teddy was a lover of animals, a champion of those less fortunate, a magnet for the underdog and a collector of anything unusual. It’s safe to say Teddy marched to the beat of his own drum.
He was definitely one of a kind. He could talk for hours about art and history and his sense of humor was unmatched. We will all miss his stories and the gleam in his eye as he recounted an amazing event.
Will Rogers said “I never met a man I didn’t like”. It could be said that Theo took that one step further. “I never met a man I didn’t help”.
You could always count on him to lend a helping hand. Just like his grandfather before him, he would give someone the shirt off his back if they were in need. As a tribute to Teddy’s altruistic nature, I challenge each person reading this to reach out to someone in need.
